5 Tips for Fall Décor (No Pumpkins Needed)

Transitioning from summer to fall isn’t always easy. If you’re between seasonal décor styles and aren’t comfortable adding pumpkins just yet, I’ve got some wonderful ideas on how to gradually add autumn touches to your surroundings.

1. Fresh Fruit for Fall

Gathering apples, pears or any other fruit that might be in season in your area is a great way to create a center table (minus the pumpkins, of course). Place them in a rustic receptacle or tray and add some flowers to accompany the setting.

2. A Spruced Up Porch

Having a warm welcoming porch is a simple way to start embracing the new season. Try adding plants with colors reminiscent of fall; some colorful “Garden Mums,” ornamental grasses or even purple kale are great for delivering a simple autumnal touch. Don’t forget about the planters, which will give the arrangement the complete look.

3. New Color Schemes

Muting the colors in the dining room area is a great way to start transitioning into autumn. Try switch to olive green instead of lime, or ochre instead of sun-bright yellow. You can also use black for a more conservative, elegant look with pops of marigolds or silver accents.

4. Autumn Arrangements

Bring nature indoors by making seasonal arrangements. Color-changing leaves are a great way to kick off your fall décor. But don’t worry if they’re not available in your area. HomeGoods offers a variety of silk branches and flowers in wonderful colors perfect for this coming season.

5. Candle Creativity

Whether you prefer using candles as a table centerpiece or over the mantle, these accents will instantly bring a cozy atmosphere to any space. When in doubt about having candles around your kids, remember you can always use battery-operated ones, which can be indistinguishable from their wax counterparts.

If you still need some more inspiration to start off your fall décor, here are some words that might get you in the mood: harvest, comfort, warmth, cotton, wheat, marigold, maple, leaves, coziness, blankets.
