Choose a Neutral Base
For me, neutral bedding consists of a solid colored base whether that be a duvet, comforter or quilt. I usually choose a gray, white or beige base. These three colors are timeless and literally go with anything. You can change out your pillows, throws and even blankets, and you will always have a coordinating bedding ensemble.
Add Seasonal Throw Pillows
If you are like me, you like to decorate for the seasons. I swear, my husband thinks I am out of my mind with throw pillows, but what he doesn’t understand is that throw pillows are inexpensive and a quick fix. I get bored easily with my decor and it’s a lot more economical to buy throw pillows than a complete new bedding set, am I right?

Add a Pop of Color with a Quilt or Throw
For this summer, I kept our classic white sheet set with blue piping and added our white ruffled duvet cover and matching sham set. To create a new look, I picked up some fabulous new navy pillows along with a new quilt from HomeGoods. The Americana coastal-themed quilt with red, white and blue accents is perfect for summer.
Paired with the white fluffy pillows that I already had, the new bedding ensemble was an affordable, quick-and-easy summer refresh. If you keep your base bedding neutral, you can switch out pillows, throws and quilts as much as you want.
One, two, three, and you’re done. Happy decorating!
